New Item - Beach Candles

I've had such fun today making my new beach candles, I though I would share it!

About a month ago I went to an open house at my fragrance vendor's facility and saw lots of great candle and tart ideas.  One thing in particular caught my eye - the beach candle.  I was intrigued by the "sand" at the top and bottom and had to find out how it was done. I took their basic idea and tweaked it to make it my own.

As it turns out, it wasn't difficult at all, and I knew I had to try making these.  I started by making various seashell tarts from coconut fragrance, and swirled in the dye to give them a more realistic look.  While those were cooling, I mixed the granulated wax with fragrance and dye to give it a sandy appearance.  I layered it on the bottom of the wicked jars, then poured two layers of Blue Hawaiian fragrance, one darker than the other, then topped it with more of the sand.  Added a few seashells and viola!  The candles you see above.

I have added these to my website today in seven tropical fragrance choices!  These are so fun and unique, everyone will want one!!

Why I Chose Soy

One of the questions I get asked all the time is "Why Soy?" I did extensive research and testing on our candles in order to bring you the best possible product. I made the decision to go with soy wax for my container candles, glass votives, and wax tarts, as it offers the best scent throw possible, and offers so many benefits.
Just a few of the benefits of soy are:
  • Soy Wax burns 30% to 50% longer than paraffin
  • Soy wax is biodegradable
  • Burning soy wax candles helps support the American farmer
  • Little or no soot is produced from burning soy wax
  • No carcinogens are produced from burning soy wax
  • Soy wax is non-toxic
  • Soy wax holds color and scent better than paraffin
  • Soy wax will not discolor your walls or furniture from petroleum byproducts
  • Soy wax is a renewable resource, petroleum is limited
  • Animal fat is not an ingredient of soy wax
I would like to add that each candle may vary slightly in appearance. Some fragrances and colors will produce a creamy looking candle, while others may produce a white "frosting" effect to them. The frosting is a natural characteristic of soy wax and should not be considered a flaw.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog!  I'm Kathy Newman Turza, owner of K's Kreations.  We carry all natural soy candles and tarts - handmade in the heartland of America.  I started my business over 9 years ago, when my twin sons were younger and I needed to be at home with them.

My boys are now grown, and it's just myself and my husband, Tom at home now.  Well, not quite true.  I have two Siberian Huskies (Scarlet and Timber) and they are my babies now!

I'm not really sure where this blogging trip will take me, but I'm always up for a new adventure!
